3 Years

As we come to the third anniversary of the untimely loss of our dear son, brother, and friend Gad Dela Lawoey, The Gad Dela Lawoey Foundation, Inc., would like to offer everyone a message of hope. A message that no matter the circumstances, there is a better tomorrow. Dela was born in Accra, Ghana. He moved to the United States in 1998. When Dela entered school here in the United States, he initially struggled in his math class.

Dela’s father became aware of this difficulty and found him a tutor. Dela worked hard, excelled in math, and began to tutor other students. Dela did not give up and believed that he could do better with hard work and diligence. Dela’s experience made him sensitive to the challenges of many students who struggled with one subject or another in school. He became a support to many young students in high school. He was even known to tutor a 3rd grader a time or two.

Whenever Dela had an opportunity, he gave of himself to others. He was a constant source of encouragement to so many people. Dela overcame many obstacles in life because he believed that with hard work and hope, he could create a better tomorrow for himself and others. This is the legacy that Dela has left for all of us and one that the Foundation seeks to carry on.

No matter the circumstance, we ask that each person continue to persevere, not only for themselves but for others, because we believe, like Dela, that with hard work and hope...

Creating a Path to Success with STEM Education Scholarships, Mentorship, and Support
The Gad Dela Lawoey Foundation is here to help you break down barriers, improve access, and chart new journeys with STEM education.
The Gad Dela Lawoey Foundation is a non-profit organization helping to transform the lives of students of color pursuing an undergraduate degree in STEM. Through scholarship, mentorship, and support, our students are eager to make a difference in the world through STEM, and we are ready to support them on that journey.
OUR PURPOSE

Continuing the Work of
Gad Dela Lawoey

The foundation is in honor of Gad Dela Lawoey, who loved the Lord and always wanted everyone around him to be happy and to pursue their passions. We continue his work as someone who continuously sought to mentor and assist children and young adults with their academic needs.

He wanted everyone to know that anything was
possible, dreams are valid, and to never give up. Today, we empower students and young adults to live those dreams.
